Crop Circle
Stonehenge, Nr Amesbury, Wiltshire
June 12, 1997.
Crop Circles of 1997
The Formation is a hexagon shape, with a small circle in the middle with six arms pointing towards each apex of the hexagon. On the end of each arm, there are many many small circles. The formation is in barley and is appx 500 feet. The formation was discovered on Monday 9th June by a local. An aerial shot by Steve Alexander. Copyright 1997. I Googled this image up because I didn’t realize at first it was the same image Art Bell has on his site by Steve Alexander. To view that photo, click here.
A Researcher’s Search Engine
These forms will allow you to search the entire ISO database as it exists. This is a complex search vehicle that looks at every file within its search domain. You have access to all files.
Before Google, searching the web was much different. Many websites like In-Search-Of.com and ArtBell.com had their own on-site search engine. This can now be accomplished with search operators, so these standalone search tools are no longer needed.
If you’d like to see what this search engine was like, have a look here.
It does seem a bit disappointing though that you could retain users on your website by providing search and that’s not much of an option anymore. Fortunately, WordPress has built-in search much like what these hand-coded websites were accomplishing back in the late 90s.
Since this was almost a decade before I started webmastering myself, I am unsure of what service or mechanism they used to create these robust, standalone search engines.
In Search Of operates its site through SimpleNet. Simplenet is proud to run Sun UltraSparc Enterprise servers for all our web hosting accounts. Each server has the maximum amount of RAM, and is connected to Andataco’s new ESP hard drive enclosures. Each of our systems is connected via OC-3 to a FORE switch, which is connected (aggregated) to ATMnet’s national backbone. All of our hosting customers are using Netscape Commerce and Enterprise Server software. <– Wow! That is ALL Greek to me. The only thing I understand is RAM. haha
