Art Bell Music – Theme and Bumper Music

Last Updated on August 29, 2021 by Raider1

Coast to Coast Theme Music is from the movie soundtrack “Midnight Express”. The song is called “Chase”. Although watching the movie I didn’t hear much of it, but it was there. Not the theme of the movie, but placed in the middle somewhere.

Anyway, here is a MIDI version of Art’s Coast to Coast – Theme Song by Bob Frazier.

Dreamland Theme Music is by Ray Lynch, Deep Breakfast, The Oh of Pleasure.

Song Lyrics

One of Art’s favorite songs is Highwayman. Performed by The Highway Men (Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson). You can listen to the song with Real-Audio. Thanks to Dan Mattingly, here are the lyrics:

Highwayman

Written By Jimmy Webb

i was a highwayman
along the coach roads i did ride
with sword and pistol by my side
many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade,
many a soldier shed his life’s blood on my blade
the bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
but i am still alive

i was a sailor,
i was born upon the tide
with the sea i did abide
i sailed a schooner ’round the horn to mexico
i went aloft to furl the mainsail in a blow
and when the yards broke off,
they said that i got killed
but i am living still

i was a dam builder
across the river deep and wide
where steel and water did collide
a place called boulder on the wild colorado
i slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
they buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
but i am still around
i’ll always be around and around and around…

i’ll fly a starship
‘cross the universe divide
and when i reach the other side,
i’ll find a place to rest my spirit if i can
perhaps i may become a highwayman again
or i may simply be a single drop of rain
but i will remain
and i’ll be back again and again and again…

    1. I didn’t forget it. Apparently Art wasn’t using it at the time this page appeared on his website. At the bottom of each page, you’ll notice a list of links where the content was originally found on The WayBack Machine. The most recent version of his site this content was pulled from was Jan. 14, 1998.

This is a work in progress.

In other news, artbell.com now goes to Art’s memorial website and there’s a complete list there of all the bumper music he ever used -http://artbelllegacy.com/bumper_music.htm

      Thanks for your comment.
